Moving over from other software, or keeping your customers in a spreadsheet? You can upload that file and add everyone at once, instead of typing them in one by one. Below you'll find what comes across, how to prepare your file and what happens to customers you already have.
Which customer details can I import?
You can send up to 30 columns per customer. These are the ones most salons use:
First name, middle name and last name, or one column with the full name
Gender and salutation
Address, house number, postal code and city
Phone number, mobile number and email address
Date of birth
Newsletter opt-in
Loyalty points, added as a first points transaction on the customer
Two note columns: 'Extra customer information' and 'Customer alert'
Ten free 'Additional field' columns for anything else
Appointments and sales from your old software don't come across: they aren't among the columns you can map.
How do I prepare my file?
Save your file as .csv, .xls or .xlsx. Put one customer per row and one detail per column, with a header row at the top so you can see what you're mapping later.
Two columns have to be filled in on every row: first name and last name. If you're missing one of them, put a dash in that cell and the row still counts.
How do I import my file?
Go to your customer list.
Select 'Import' from the actions menu above the list.
Choose your file and confirm with the button next to it.
You'll see your own rows on screen, with a dropdown above each column. Say what each column holds, or set it to 'ignore' to leave it out.
Confirm with the button at the top right to start the import.
What happens to customers I already have?
If you map a column to the email address, the app first looks for a customer with that address. When there is one, that customer is updated instead of a second one being added. So sending an email column is the easiest way to keep duplicates out.
Without an email column, every row becomes a new customer. In that case, go through your file for old and duplicate customers first.
Why weren't all my rows imported?
You'll get an email as soon as the import finishes. It has a file called failed_rows.csv attached, holding exactly the rows that didn't go through. Correct those rows in that file and upload it again.
It's usually one of these two things:
First name or last name is empty.
The email address isn't a valid one.
Still stuck, or you'd rather leave it to us? Send us your file through the chat and we'll run the import for you.
