You can send one email to a whole group of clients straight from your customer list – everyone who came in for a colour and hasn't rebooked, for example. Remember, if a designed newsletter with images and buttons is closer to what you need, you can use the newsletter builder instead: How do I create and send a newsletter?. Find out everything you need to know about emailing a filtered group below.
How do I email a group of clients?
You filter your customer list first, then write one message for everyone the filter leaves.
Open 'Customers'.
Click the filter button beside the search box and build your filter. How do I filter my customer list? walks through every option.
Click the envelope button below the search box ('Send message').
Choose 'Email' rather than 'SMS message'.
Fill in the subject and the message, then click 'Send'.

You'll see how many clients you're sending to before you start writing, and you'll be asked to confirm that number before anything goes out.
Which clients receive the email?
Only clients who haven't unsubscribed from your newsletter. The window also carries a warning: a bulk email to a large group can be marked as spam, and delivery isn't guaranteed.
The envelope button stays greyed out when nobody in the list is subscribed, when the list still holds archived clients, or when your account isn't allowed to send in bulk. And if your own email address isn't verified yet, you're asked to verify it first.
How do I put a client's name in the email?
Type {{first_name}} where the name should go and the app fills it in for each client. These codes work in the subject as well as in the message.
{{first_name}} and {{last_name}}
{{salutation}}
{{company_name}}, {{company_address}}, {{company_email}} and {{company_phone}}
How do I email one client?
Open the client from 'Customers' and click 'Send message' in the list of actions on their overview. The same window opens, with email already chosen.
Can I send a designed newsletter instead?
You can do this in two ways. If your plan includes the marketing area, the window that asks which type of message you want also offers 'Newsletter template', which opens the newsletter builder.
Or, once you've connected Mailchimp, the '⋯' menu at the top right of your customer list offers 'Export to MailChimp'. Give the segment a name you'll recognise, click 'Save', and your filtered group arrives in Mailchimp as a segment you can pick when you build a campaign. Here's how to connect Mailchimp.
